Assign Endpoints to a Group

Move one or more endpoints into an Endpoint Group to make them active on the network

What happens when you assign an endpoint

Assigning an endpoint to an Endpoint Group is the action that moves it from Pending to Active. The moment the assignment is saved:

  • The endpoint inherits the group's full configuration: Routing Policy, Operator Policy, Regional Policy, Event Map, and any Edge Services
  • An IP address is allocated from the group's VSlice subnet
  • The endpoint is provisioned on the Stacuity network and can begin passing traffic as soon as the device attaches

You can assign a single endpoint or batch-assign hundreds at once.

Assign endpoint to group

Steps

  1. Go to Inventory → Endpoints.
  2. Tick the checkbox next to one or more endpoints you want to assign.
    • Use the column header checkbox to select all visible endpoints
    • Use filters first if you want to select a specific subset (e.g. all Pending endpoints in a tag group)
  3. Click Assign to Group from the action bar that appears at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select the target Endpoint Group from the dropdown.
  5. Confirm.

The selected endpoints move to Active once the assignment is processed. For large batches, this may take a few seconds.

Vantiq Motors — Example

A shipment of 500 new Vantiq Fleet HGV telematics units has arrived at the UK depot. ICCIDs were pre-loaded into the portal by the tenant when the SIM batch was allocated. The operations team opens Endpoints, filters by status Pending and tag batch-uk-jan26, ticks all 500, and assigns them to vantiq-fleet-uk-primary in a single action. All 500 endpoints move to Active and begin streaming telematics data within minutes of the units powering on.

Reassigning an endpoint to a different group

An endpoint can be moved from one Endpoint Group to another. When reassigned:

  • The endpoint immediately loses the old group's configuration
  • It immediately inherits the new group's configuration
  • Its IP address may change if the new group belongs to a different subnet
  • Any active data session is ended and re-established under the new configuration
⚠️

VSlice is permanent per endpoint once assigned. An endpoint can be moved between groups, but only between groups that share the same VSlice. You cannot move an endpoint from a group in VSlice A to a group in VSlice B. If you need to do this, terminate the endpoint and re-provision it.
